24 Ott 7 Things to Do for Friendsgiving in NYC

Friendsgiving is one of the best unofficial holiday traditions during the year. A group of friends gets together for Thanksgiving-themed food, fun, and festivities โ€“ what else could you ask for? Most Friendsgiving events wonโ€™t take place on Thanksgiving itself, but on a different day during the week. Youโ€™ll have plenty of time to check out the best of what NYC has to offer. Here are 7 things to do for Friendsgiving in NYC.

7 Things to Do for Friendsgiving in NYC

  1. The Macyโ€™s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Whether youโ€™re a local or visiting from out of town, the Macyโ€™s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a must-see if youโ€™re in town during Thanksgiving week. Grab your friends, a few cups of hot cocoa, and check out this unforgettable tradition.

The 91st Macyโ€™s Thanksgiving Day Parade starts at 9am local time on November 23, 2017. Check the Macyโ€™s website for route information, parade lineup, and information about viewing.

  1. Chelsea Market

Believe it or not, there are only 7 weeks until Christmas. If you havenโ€™t gotten your gifts for friends and family yet, now is a good time to do so!

Check out Chelsea Market in Manhattan for artisan food and drink, and shop to your heartโ€™s desire. Even better, the market is indoors so you don’t have to be out in the cold.

  1. Central Park

The weather may be getting colder, but thatโ€™s what scarves and hats and coats are for. Central Park is open year-round and is a fantastic place to really get into the holiday spirit. Enjoy Christmas lights and decorations, fairs and events, and donโ€™t forget to visit the zoo too!

  1. Holiday Lights

Tis the seasonโ€ฆ for holiday lights! There are plenty of self-guided and paid tours available for holiday lights. Many neighborhoods will put on their own light displays. Saks Fifth Avenue features a light show every year, which is projected onto the front of their building and is a must-see at least once in a lifetime.

Take a walk between 59th street and 39th street to enjoy some fabulous Christmas light displays, decorations, shopping, and so much more.

  1. Ice Skating at Rockefeller Center

Itโ€™s a well-known fact that ice skating is more fun with friends. Get in on the action at Rockefeller Center this year. Even if youโ€™re not an Olympic talent, youโ€™ll still have fun! Youโ€™ll have no shortage of Friendsgiving stories to tell with a fun experience like this.

While youโ€™re at Rockefeller Center, donโ€™t forget to see the world-famous Rockefeller Christmas Tree to really get you into the holiday spirit. The tree is lit in early December and will remain lit through mid-January.

  1. Participate in a Turkey Trot

Turkey trots usually take place on Thanksgiving morning well before anyone is thinking about turkey dinner, but some are scheduled for the weekend. If you can get your friends up for it, consider signing up for one of these fun runs โ€“ costumes optional!

Thereโ€™s no pressure to run if you donโ€™t want to; you can walk too. The Tri State Turkey Trot takes place November 25, 2017 on Roosevelt Island.

  1. Book a Night Out with Birthday Bottle Service

The nights are getting longer and the weather is getting colder. Once the sun has gone down, itโ€™s time to head indoors. But that doesnโ€™t mean the fun has to stop. Book a night out with Birthday Bottle Service to keep your Friendsgiving celebrations going. We have a wide selection of venues to suit your mood and preferences.

Troy Liquor Bar is one of our favorite places to visit in NYC. Itโ€™s got a living room feel, complete with couches and games like pool, and is the perfect place to crash and grab some light bites and drinks after a long day out.
