Most Friendsgiving events won’t take place on Thanksgiving itself, but on a different day during the week. You’ll have plenty of time to check out the best of what NYC has to offer. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Whether you’re a local or visiting from out of town, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a must-see if you’re in town during Thanksgiving week. Grab your friends, a few cups of hot cocoa, and check out this unforgettable tradition.

The 91^st Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade starts at 9am local time on November 23, 2017. Check the Macy’s website for route information, parade lineup, and information about viewing.

Chelsea Market

Believe it or not, there are only 7 weeks until Christmas. If you haven’t gotten your gifts for friends and family yet, now is a good time to do so!

Check out Chelsea Market in Manhattan for artisan food and drink, and shop to your heart’s desire. Even better, the market is indoors so you don’t have to be out in the cold.

Central Park

The weather may be getting colder, but that’s what scarves and hats and coats are for. Central Park is open year-round and is a fantastic place to really get into the holiday spirit. Enjoy Christmas lights and decorations, fairs and events, and don’t forget to visit the zoo too!

Tis the season… for holiday lights! There are plenty of self-guided and paid tours available for holiday lights. Many neighborhoods will put on their own light displays. Saks Fifth Avenue features a light show every year, which is projected onto the front of their building and is a must-see at least once in a lifetime.

Take a walk between 59^th street and 39^th street to enjoy some fabulous Christmas light displays, decorations, shopping, and so much more.

Ice Skating at Rockefeller Center

It’s a well-known fact that ice skating is more fun with friends. Get in on the action at Rockefeller Center this year. Even if you’re not an Olympic talent, you’ll still have fun! You’ll have no shortage of Friendsgiving stories to tell with a fun experience like this.

While you’re at Rockefeller Center, don’t forget to see the world-famous Rockefeller Christmas Tree to really get you into the holiday spirit. The tree is lit in early December and will remain lit through mid-January.

Participate in a Turkey Trot

Turkey trots usually take place on Thanksgiving morning well before anyone is thinking about turkey dinner, but some are scheduled for the weekend. If you can get your friends up for it, consider signing up for one of these fun runs – costumes optional!

There’s no pressure to run if you don’t want to; you can walk too. The Tri State Turkey Trot takes place November 25, 2017 on Roosevelt Island.
